FAQ's

Is a steel home as safe as a wood home?

It’s even safer. Steel is non-combustible, meaning it will not catch fire, burn, or contribute to a house fire like wood does. Our LGS homes are built to superior safety standards and offer excellent protection in extreme weather

No. The steel we use is coated with a protective layer of zinc (galvanized), which prevents rust and corrosion. This frame is designed to last for the lifetime of the home, often over 100 years.

Absolutely not. Termites and wood-boring pests can’t eat steel. Choosing an LGS home permanently eliminates the risk of structural damage from termites, carpenter ants, and other pests.

Very well. Steel has a much higher strength-to-weight ratio than wood, making it incredibly resilient against severe weather. Our structures are engineered to stand strong against high winds and storms, giving you peace of mind.

The material cost can sometimes be slightly higher, but the total construction cost is often the same or less. This is because steel is much faster to assemble, which saves a huge amount on labor and reduces the overall construction time.

You’ll be in your new home much sooner. Because the steel components are manufactured precisely and arrive ready for assembly, the framing stage of the project is often cut in half compared to traditional methods.

Yes. Since steel framing doesn’t shrink or warp, it creates a much straighter and tighter envelope for your home. This allows insulation to perform optimally, reducing air leaks and lowering your monthly heating and cooling costs.

Yes, it’s a great “green” choice. The steel we use is made from a high percentage of recycled material and is 100% recyclable itself. Building with steel also produces far less construction waste than wood.
